With QiWord's awesome new feature, known as 'Massive Downloader', scientists and scholars can now search, find & download hundreds to even thousands of full text articles from about 400 different open-access journals with just a few clicks!

Undoubtedly, this will revolutionize the way scientists search for, and access content from academic journals, especially in today's world of big data characterized by an overwhelming amount of research articles being published.

Scientists usually spend a significant amount of time and effort searching for and downloading relevant articles in their field of interest. This becomes particularly painful each time they have to gather the relevant literature in order to write and publish their research and review articles (not to mention dissertation thesis, grant applications, and/or book chapters).

For instance, writing a review article can be a daunting process where collecting the relevant references to read and cite involveds a big part of the overall effort.

Usually, scientists engange in at least one of the following activities when searching for relevant articles:

A- PubMed search;

B- Google Scholar search;

C- Direct search within the webpage of a particular journal

The biggest inconvenience associated with searching articles in PubMed, Google Scholar, or directly from a journal's webpage is that you cannot download several full text articles in pdf format at once. Invariably, one have to go through the following sequential process:

1- search articles by querying archives with keywords of interest (KOI)

2- scroll down the page to read the titles and/or abstract of articles containing KOI

3- click to open HTML version of single article

4- download full text article in pdf format

5- store pdf of article in computer

5- repat all the above for a second article

WOULDN'T BE EASIER if you just could download ALL ARTICLES containing your KOI and store them in one place so that you could look at them later on?

QiWord's Massive Downloader does exactly that!

When scientists search for their KOIs using QiWord's Massive Downloader, they are querying articles from 400 open-access journals in parallel. The result of such query is visually represented in a carefully desing graph containing circles, with each circle representing a journal and its diameter directly proportional to the number of full text articles harboring user's KOI.

Colored circles representing the publisher, with PLOS in yellow, BioMed Central in blue, and Frontiers in pink.

Adding hundred of full text articles to a user's account in keyword is as easy as clicking circles!

All articles are then automatically stored in QiWord's servers, allowing users to access them from any device anywhere. Furthermore, users can take advantage of QiWord's search engine and natural language processing to find those articles most interesting to read first, greatly reducing the time needed to search, find & download relevant contant when writing a research article, review paper, thesis dissertation or book chapter.

Although QiWord's proof-of-concept involved open-access journals, current efforts are under way to include paid-subscription journals as well. We want to build the next PubMed!

each circle represent an academic journal containing full text articles on a given keyword. The diameter of the circle is directly proportional to the number of articles available for download. Different colors represent various open-access journals, with the color intensity relating to their respective impact factor.
